OKKULO Training,
Explained for Families.

The science, the structure, and the long-term edge behind every 90-minute session — in plain language, so you know exactly what you're signing your player up for.

“It's not extra soccer. It's training the eyes and brain that control every touch.”

Start Here

What Is OKKULO Training?

It's a normal soccer session — a real field, a real ball, real teammates — played under controlled, colored light that makes the ball and the space around it harder to read. Your player's eyes and brain have to work harder to track, scan and decide, and they adapt to keep up.

Then the lights come back to normal, and everything feels slower and clearer. That's the point: the speed your player gains under hard conditions is the speed they take into Saturday's game.

Sessions run weekly in the early evening at Cherry Valley Sports in West Hempstead, NY, for Long Island players born 2010–2017, in groups of eight.

Sharper decisions

Under harder-to-read light, your player has to scan, judge and choose faster than a normal session ever asks.

Faster reactions

The brain adapts to keep up, and the speed stays once the lights come off — measured at roughly 50ms quicker.

The Science

Same Soccer. Different Light. A Faster Brain.

Your player trains on a real field, with a real ball, real teammates, real pressure. The only thing OKKULO changes is the light. Under controlled, colored lighting, the eyes and brain have to work harder to track the ball, read space, and react — and the brain adapts to keep up.

Every human reacts to what they see with a small, built-in delay. OKKULO training is built to close part of that gap — permanently, not just while the lights are on.

Try it — reaction test

OKKULO-Trained≈200ms · 50ms faster

Every brain takes about a quarter-second to see something and react to it. OKKULO-trained athletes have measured roughly 50ms less — closing part of that gap for speed, without glasses, headsets, or goggles.

Six Weeks. Elite Players. Measurable Gains.

Independent, peer-reviewed research on OKKULO's light training measured real gains across the visual skills that decide a game — grouped here the way a player actually uses them.

A Next Lens Session

Inside a 90-Minute Session.

Every session follows the same structure — and every phase has a specific job. Select a phase to see what happens in it.

30–40 min

Okkulo Light Training

The core cognitive load phase. Controlled light forces faster tracking, sharper focus, and quicker decisions under pressure.

20–30 min

Normal Light Contrast

Back under standard lighting — where the gains become visible immediately, in faster reactions and quicker recall.

25 min

Small-Sided Games

Everything applied under real game pressure, with less space and more of it packed into every minute.

The methodology in one line: cognitive training, decision-making, and basic tactics — with reduced space in the small-sided games multiplying repetitions, so your player faces more decisions per minute while building conditioning to keep making good ones late in a game.

Why 10 Weeks

One Session Sharpens. A Full Cycle Rewires.

A single session can make a player feel sharper for a day. Adaptation that lasts takes repetition — the same principle behind strength or endurance training, applied to the eyes and brain.

Because the training happens in a real, game-realistic environment — not glasses or a VR headset — the gains transfer directly to games, and stay after the cycle ends.

Why You Can Trust It

Proven Where It Matters.

Cherry Valley Sports — home of Next Lens Okkulo Training — is one of OKKULO's grassroots training partners. The same technology is used by the Atlanta Braves (MLB's No. 1-ranked team this season) and the Arizona Diamondbacks, has been featured in Forbes, BBC, WIRED and Sky Sports, and its research is backed by scientists at Durham University and the University of Glasgow.

Cognitive

Decision-making trained under real pressure, not just physical reps

Technical / Tactical

Reduced-space games mean more touches and more tactical reps per minute

Physical

A conditioning effect built into every session, not bolted on afterward

Lasting

Gains that show up in real games — and stay after the 10 weeks end

How to register

  1. 1. Create your account

New to Next Lens? Set up a free family account — it takes a minute and holds your player's details.

  2. 2. Pay the $40 assessment

Book the assessment from your player portal. It takes place at the first session of the cycle.

  3. 3. Get assessed

Your player trains and our staff assess them on the field. Their rating appears in your portal.

  4. 4. Complete registration

Once the rating is in, pay for the cycle in your portal. The place is only held once payment is complete.

A place is only held once payment is complete — there is no waiting list before that.
